STAR Chapter 150
May 2011 Meeting Summary

Attendance:  26 members, 1 STAR Kid and 2 guests

Minutes for April 2011 accepted as read

President/VP Report:  Thanks to Jim for organizing today's LOS ride.  Next week is the State Rally at Woody's.  The vet ride is on 5/21/11.

Brian ordered patches for Carol.  They will cost $5 each, but feel free to give more.  Anything raised over and above the cost of the patches will be donated to the Dempsey Center in Carol's name.

Ride waivers need to be signed & dues are due today.  Any dues collected today will not be part of today's Treasurer report

Treasurer's report accepted as read, with a reminder that annual dues must be paid today

LobSTAR Bake 2011:  Getting closer to sending the info out.  Pinstriping will be available.  There will be a photo-op with Crushstation, the driver, the rider & their bike -- $10 fee.  The charge for the dinner will be $35/person.  An extra lobster will be $7 (with the purchase of a dinner).  Will be looking for volunteers for the jail & bail.

Offering to let Scott's crew participate in the bake was mentioned, and Joyce said that it would really be up to Scott since his crew would be working that day.

LOS Rep:  This is the official LOS ride.  Jim will be leading today.  The Ride for Strides will be 7/23.  There will be a silent auction.  Need to start thinking of getting donations -- last year people went to places like Applebee's and Target looking for gift certificates to be donated.  Need to plan a route for the ride also

STAR Vet Rep:  5/21/11 is the Vet Home/Togus ride.  All set on the canes for the Vet Home residents.  The pre-ride was done on 5/6/11.  The ride on the 21st will be leaving promptly from Woody's at 9:30 a.m., as we'll need to arrive at the Vet Home at 10:30 a.m.

STAR Kids/Teens:  position is currently vacant.
STAR Membership:  Ginny & Dan sent out a letter to their biker friends about the Chapter.  They will have an informative letter about Chapter 150 available at the Rally
Road Captain:  For today's ride, be sure to stay in the same lane that Jim is in.  Make sure to maintain a staggered formation.  Leave enough room for bikes on the ditch side of the road.  There will be portions of the ride that will need to be single file -- Jim will signal when this is the case.  Make sure to pass down the signals, including the signal to go back to staggered riding.  Brian reviewed the signals.  Don will be the mid point co-captain, just in case the group gets separated.
Website Committee:  Needs to meet to get training on the website software

STATE Rally Committee:  set up will start at 9 a.m.  The Rally starts at 11 a.m.  The Shine & Show parking will be in front of Woody's, since it would be too hard to have everyone cross the street to see the bikes.  More details will follow in an email later this week.

New business:  The annual Odometer Challenge starts today.  Ann will be going around and reading everyone's odometer that wishes to participate

Upcoming events:  7/28, 7/29 & 7/30/11 - Clyde will be in a play in Mount Vernon.  All welcome

Safety Minute of the Month:  We went over the signals and riding formation during the Ride Captain's report

Meeting adjourned:  9:40 a.m.
